本日は go + [様態を表す副詞 (句)] の形を扱います。これは、「～のような状態になる」と「～に合う」の 2 つの意味があります。
(1) ～のような状態になる:
・“I was very happy and glad the election went
in my favor, so I can now continue to serve the citizens of Bladen County,” said Niki Dennis. (「選挙での勝利を大変喜ばしく光栄に存じます。これにより、今後も引き続きブラデン郡の皆様にお仕えさせて頂くことができます。」とニッキ・デニスは語った。)

【研究】The election was against me. とすれば「選挙に敗れた」という意味になります。

【研究】多くの場合 A goes well with B の形をとりますが、上記のように well を伴わない場合もあります。
