本日も、前回の発展編の続きで、get doing の用法を扱います。これは「～し始める」を意味します。それでは具体的に見ていきましょう。

【研究】Le's get going. (さあ、やろう。) など、連語的に使用されることもあります。この場合文脈上 go が取り得る内容により、「さあ、出かけよう」などの意味にもなります。

・After we got talking, I realised that we went to the same primary school.
(話し始めると、私たちは同じ小学校に通っていたことが分かった。)

【研究】go + doing の doing の位置には、上記以外に move, work などが来ます。なんでも来れるわけではないので注意が必要です。

・I got to thinking about you and your problems, and I decided to call you. Can we talk for a few minutes?
(あなたとあなたが抱える問題について考え始めました。それで電話をしようと決めたのです。少しお話できますか。)

【研究】構文は異なりますが、get to doing も可能です。これもある程度取れる動詞は限られるようです。後日機会があれば検証したいと思います。
