本日も get の用法です。昨日に引き続き、「移動」を表す get です。

(1) 移動先を明示しないパターン:

・After struggling for some time, he realized he could not get out, so he just sat in a corner to wait for daylight and help.
(しばらく頑張ってみたが脱出できないことが分かり、彼は隅に座りこんで夜が明けて助けが来るのを待った。)

・Will bugs be able to get in through the floor of the deck (the spaces between the panels)?
(虫はデッキの床 (床板の間のスペース) から入り込めるものでしょうか。)

【研究】「移動先」は文脈上明らかな場合、明示せずに使用することもできます。

(2) get in[into] と get on[onto] の違い:

・Unless there is an emergency and you need to get into the car immediately, breaking the window is one of the worst things to do.
(緊急事態ですぐ車に乗り込まなければならないときは別ですが、通常、窓を割るという行為は一番避けたいことの一つです。)

【研究】通常は、in[into] のパターンと、on[onto] のパターンはパラフレーズ可能ですが、「乗り込む」という動作では前者が好まれ、「乗っていく」というその後の行為にまで言及する場合、後者が好まれます。

次回も引き続き、「移動」を表す get を扱います。
