本日は「(良いことや悪いことが) 起きる」を表す come です。これは come の単独使用以外に、前置詞 (from, of, to など) を伴って原因・理由あるいは被害の対象を明示するパターンと副詞節 (when など) を従えるパターンがあります。

(1) 単独のパターン:

・The accident came two days after a tabloid reported Woods had been having an affair with New York club hostess Rachel Uchitel. (2) 前置詞を伴うパターン:

・Success comes
from hard work and dedication. (成功とは勤勉と専心から生じるものである。)
