本日は番外編で home helper を扱います。

ネットでこの表現を検索すると、「和製英語」と書かれたサイトが数多くヒットします。しかし、ネイティブが書いた文章でも home helper を使用する文があるため、今回これをチェックしてみました。今回使用したのは Google Ngram Viewer と Google ブックスです。
1. 下記は home helper, home caregiver, home care worker の Ngram Viewer での使用頻度対比です。

→これを見るとかなり拮抗しており、home helper, home caregiver, home care worker の順になっているのが分かると思います。
2. また、Google のブックスで検索すると下記のような書籍内容がヒットしました。

→スニペット表示なので前後の表現すべてを見ることはできませんが、かなり細かく書かれています。

【研究】 　上記の2点を考慮すると、ネットで騒がれているほど home helper は和製英語とまでは言い切れない気がします。今後も少し注目していきたいと思います。
