本日は admire と respect の意味を扱います。

admire:

・「ある状態、行為に心を引かれる」こと。よって対象は人、景色、技量などで、人の場合はその人の「行為」が対象となることが多い。 (基本動詞辞典)

・to have a feeling of great respect for someone or something (Macmillan)

respect:

・「人、事物に敬意を払う」こと。その対象は両親、先生などの「人となり」あるいは、権利、約束など大事にされなければならないもの。(基本動詞辞典)

・ a feeling of admiration that you have for someone because of their personal qualities, their achievements, or their status, and that you show by treating them in a polite and kind way (Macmillan)
